Harrogate Open Art Exhibition is held biannually in the town's prestigious Mercer Art Gallery and representation is much sought after by artists in both Yorkshire and further afield.
Around 150 artworks were selected for the 2019 Exhibition from around 600 entries. Judge and acclaimed Yorkshire artist, Emerson Mayes said "We were overwhelmed with the standard and variety of the submissions and found making the final selection for exhibition a challenge". And so I was delighted to hear that my pastel painting, Spring Blues, Ripley, was one of those that had been selected. This is a large painting of the bluebell wood that runs alongside a track that meanders its way from Ripley Castle north of Harrogate.
The Exhibition ran between 12 October 2019 to 11 January 2020
