The Ionic Temple, Rievaulx Terrace (mixed media, mounted)

Rievaulx Terrace is a landscaped garden dating back to the 18th century and overlooks the Cistercian Rievaulx Abbey. The Ionic temple is one of two temples at either end of the garden. Painted on site on a bitterly cold but beautifully sunny day in November, a winter sun shining on late autimnal colours made for a wonderful view. An underpainting was created using watercolour and ArtGraf before pastel was applied for finishing colour and detail.
